Rapid Diagnostek
Together with Rapid Diagnostek we developed a diagnostic “lab-in- a-box” that replicates the precision of clinical lab results in a portable platform. The system integrates conventional immunochemistry with state of the art biosensor and micro fluidic technology. Test results are available in minutes and are able to be transmitted wirelessly when desired.
Creating Simplicity Through Research
Rapid Diagnostek brought us in from our Minneapolis headquarters to help them with research, industrial product design, user interface and user experience design and some mechanical engineering. The Kablooe team initially conducted ethnographic research to understand the drawbacks of existing technologies. Users from both clinics and emergency rooms were observed in their own environments and interviewed face-to- face. The design inputs we developed from this research led to simplifying the operational test flows. The device’s graphical user interface (GUI) was also developed to mimic smart phone navigation, making it instantly familiar and easy to use for clinicians and emergency room personnel. We also worked directly with the Rapid Diagnostek team to ensure the test cartridge integrated seamlessly with the platform to maintain sterility. Rapid Diagnostek, Inc. is currently seeking FDA approval.
