EarliTec: Autism Designs & Devices for Early Diagnosis

EarliTec Diagnostics Inc., a pioneering force in early autism diagnosis, sought a product design partner to help bring their innovative EarliPoint™ Evaluation device to life. With a mission to revolutionize the early detection of autism, EarliTec engaged with Kablooe for our expertise in medical device design and development.

Device Drivers

The EarliPoint™ Evaluation device and design aims to address a critical need in the medical field—earlier detection of autism and other neurodevelopmental disorders in young children.

Unfortunately, fewer than 20% of children with autism are properly assessed before the age of three. This delay in diagnosis only postpones the help and treatment they need, impacting the crucial early stages of necessary support.

With a focus on designing an autism detection product that could accommodate a large range of seated user heights while minimizing the risk of tipping, the challenge was clear: the device needed to be both versatile and stable, ensuring accurate evaluations across diverse user profiles.

Product Design for Autism: Kablooe’s Strategy & Solution

Our team tackled this challenge head-on, ensuring the final design catered to various user profiles without compromising safety and usability.

Kablooe was involved in nearly every stage of product development, from initial research to final testing. This included the following services:
– Requirements development
– Ideation through low-volume production hand-off
– Bench testing
– Vendor management

The solution lay in the development of a stand and case featuring a knob interface. This innovative approach facilitated quick and secure height adjustment, addressing the unique challenge of accommodating various seated user heights. The stand design, coupled with the knob interface, ensured stability during evaluations, enhancing the overall functionality of the EarliPoint™ Evaluation device.

Design Outcomes

Collaboration with EarliTec was marked by clear communication and frequent collaboration. The alignment on requirements and cost of goods sold (COGS) targets streamlined the development process, fostering a partnership characterized by efficiency and shared success.

The EarliPoint™ Evaluation, an early autism detection device developed through innovative product design, now stands as a testament to the power of collaboration. Kablooe’s Design Driven Development® approach, coupled with EarliTec’s vision, has resulted in a product that is set to make a significant impact in the early detection of autism, ultimately improving the lives of those living with neurodevelopmental disorders.

Update: EarliTec Diagnostics has recently raised over $21M in funding to help bring this incredible early autism diagnostic tool to market!
