CEGA INNOVATIONS

CEGA, a start up medical technology company, set out to create the ultimate patient transfer experience.

They partnered with us to design and develop a prototype for a super efficient patient transfer system that would simplify the process of moving millions of patients from bed to bed every year.

Drivers

Solutions for moving patients were very limited. Each device had many challenges, including high likelihood of cross contamination, re-injury, discomfort, and physical strain on medical personnel.

Solution

Using our D3TM process, we were able to gain deep insight into the difficulties hospital staff experience while moving patients, from which we created a smaller and lighter prototype device that could be easily sterilized.
With a rough prototype and a wealth of insights gathered during the research phase we designed and developed a production-ready solution that could transfer patients from bed to bed with ease.

Outcomes

The MuV has received a Medical Device Excellence award and has helped reduce the incidence of patient and staff injury in hospitals across the U.S.
