HID GLOBAL

HID is a leading manufacturer of products that allow people to securely access physical and digital places. They identified a need to redesign their desktop security card printer.

HID partnered with Kablooe to develop the user interface of the device including all the touch points to make the user experience intuitive, smooth, and ergonomically efficient.

Drivers

The Fargo® DTC5500 series printer enables users to print, laminate and encode security cards in a direct-to-card system in high volumes at low cost. HID desired to improve the user interface, look, feel and function of the device to improve user adoption.

Solution

Kablooe saw the opportunity to improve access to internal components that users needed to interface with, and increase the reliability of those components. Functional identifiers such as LEDs, buttons and displays were addressed as well as card stacking and sorting and modular interface.

Outcomes

The DTC 5500 series has become a flagship device for HID Global, and is a customer favorite offering 50% lower consumable costs over other laminating devices, and automated dual side lamination without the dual side price.
