Stryker was one of the first innovators to develop balloon dilation in treating chronic sinusitis. They partnered with Kablooe to further develop this technology, and to take it from a concept to a finished product.

The FinEsse Rhinoplasty System was one of the first devices to incorporate balloon dilation to treat chronic sinusitis. This innovative solution enables physicians to dilate sinus cavities to increase patient airflow with minimal risk of damage from balloon over-inflation.
Solution
Kablooe worked with Entellus to improve the invasive nature of sinusitis surgery options of the time. The FinEsse Rhinoplasty System allows doctors to perform an outpatient procedure that successfully opens sinus cavities with minimal risk of damaging sinus structures from balloon over-inflation. Our team helped create a solution that incorporated a syringe body with internal adjustable features which prevent the expanding balloon from inflating beyond a predetermined size.
Outcomes
With balloon dilation, doctors were successfully able to expand patient sinus passageways in a simple, intuitive way. By developing the pressure limiting features within the syringe doctors could confidently inflate balloons enough to expand openings to the necessary sinus cavities without damaging important bone structures from over inflation. The device facilitates quick treatment to be administered in a minimally invasive manner, so patients experience relief without extensive surgery in an operating room.
